The 'Dio' earrings each balance two reproductions of ancient Greek coins, a bronze drachm from 323-281 BC from the Kingdom of Thrace and a small hemiobol, 500-480 BC from Mylasa. The obverse sides are decorated with the helmeted head of Athena and a leaping lion. The reverse sides show the front part of a lion and a small scorpion. Athena was the goddess of wisdom, strategy and battle and the patroness of the arts and sciences - as guardian of knowledge, she also protected spinners, weavers and other craftsmen.

Dimensions: H 3.8 cm, coin 1.5 cm Ø
Made of sterling silver and 18K gold-plated.
