





Dio Earrings
The 'Dio' earrings each balance two reproductions of ancient Greek coins, a bronze drachm from 323-281 BC and a small hemiobol, 500-480 BC. The obverse sides are decorated with the helmeted head of Athena and a leaping lion. The reverse sides show the front part of a lion and a small scorpion. Athena was the goddess of wisdom, strategy and battle and the patroness of the arts and sciences.
